Walter White Figures by TrevorGrove Walter White Figures by TrevorGrove
More shots of the 6" Walter White figures, sculpted in Ralph's wax. ([link]) I guess my earlier shots were actually work-in-progress, now that I look at them again.

The top figure is the Heisenberg version, although he would easily work great as a repaint of Walt in his beige pants and jacket....I don't know if that is planed or not.

Yes, both of these figures use the same portrait, which was a huge time saver on a really tough deadline.

These figures will be produced by Mezco for a Summer release.

I hope we see many more characters.

Damn - not only are these both excellent sculpts - but you NAILED the posture of both, particularly Heisenberg - it helps to portray so much of the character when the pose is made correctly.

Haha! It can be quite fun sometimes, too...apart from the hard work. The only thing that makes it difficult is when the client needs the work and won't leave you alone to do it. :D They can pester you quite a bit, and it never helps....but they have a schedule to keep.

I thought the WIPS were pretty good to begin with, but with the changes they're really top notch.

Damn I wish I could get a blank to paint! BrBa garage kit.

Also, they should have you do a Season 1 Walt with his shirt half tucked into his briefs.

I agree completely...I think because of time and money, Mezco probably dialed back their plans...if they sell really well, I'm sure we'll see variants like Walt in his underwear..

Kinda worried about the lack of articulation, but the sculpts are absolutely fantastic and I would buy it on that fact alone.

I was asked to sculpt them non-articulated...which makes me think they are going to add in articulation points in production. I think it's a cost-saving measure not to have the sculptor do it, but that's just my theory. Every company is different.

but...we'll have to wait and see. :) I would think there will be some basic breaks.

Ah I see. Yeah I figured it was something like that.

Well, I can't wait to see how the complete painted one looks! There's an unfortunate lack of BrBa merch, so what few that exists I will definitely pick up :P

Huge Breaking bad fan, huge sideshow fan.... this is just frecking sweet. You absolutely nailed the pose and expression. You should sculpt
all of sideshows heads :D

Now i'm going to have to change to wax as handling sculpey heads drives me crazy

Right on! I'm glad you like it and thanks for your kind words!

Wax is GREAT for headsculpts...I don't know how anyone does great work in sculpey (though there are some that do AMAZING work in sculpey).

I usually stick the head in the fridge for a while haha..

Have you come across CX5 clay?.. its apparently the best of both worlds. Its
like sculpey when heated and wax when at room temp.

Your usual masterwork. My jaw drops so often when I look at your stuff that I gotta watch out for sprains. ;)

Is this Terry O'Quinn again, or someone else rocking the same general look? I'm behind on my TV/movies these last few years.

Thanks for the link to Ralph's Wax. I'd love to eventually start getting into wax to sculpt with. Need a wax pen and a work station first!

And flawless sculpting, as always :)

It would have been enough to have the flawless likeness of Walter Cranston, but you really knocked it out of the park with the pose on Heisenberg. The slightly hunched appearance gives the piece an excellent sense of drama, like the weight of the world is literally on his shoulders. Can't wait to purchase this in the next few months. Again, great work!

That truly means a lot to me that you appreciate the body language. I love the physical acting Cranston does and I wanted to capture some of that.

Thanks for the kind words!

leme see... you catch the guy, shrink him then make a mold and finally cast some copies, right?

hahah! Actually, Bryan Cranston is just brilliant enough as an actor to shrink himself down, and then I made the life cast. What a guy!

quick question: is this wax material you use similar to sculpey?
Reply
:icontrevorgrove:
TrevorGrove Featured By Owner Jan 30, 2013  Professional Traditional Artist
Wax is pretty much the exact opposite of sculpey. :) The kind I use, anyway. It's not pliable like sculpey. The advantage is because it's hard when cool, you can achieve a very clean finish and lots of detail.
