This was an cool project, in that I only sculpted a small portion of it. I was commissioned to sculpt the Padme that's combating the big monster on the pillar. check out the final painted piece here: [link]

The cat monster was sculpted by the actual maquette sculptor that worked on Episode 2! say what you will about the film, but this creature sculpt was unreal. just completely awesome. I got to handle the finished cat sculpt, and it just blew my mind how great it was.

so, anyway, I sculpted the little Natalie Portman. it looks like she's doing some crazy little dance up there, but the chain was added by the artists at Sideshow when they did the final prototype.

she stands about 6" tall if I remember right, sculpted in wax. Produced by Sideshow Collectibles.

Once again, I didn't sculpt the creature or the pillar, I just made the little Padme, and it was all put together by Sideshow later. :)

enjoy,
Trev

Sculpting, like anything, gets better the more time you spend on it. Some things can be accomplished quickly, but they won't look as good as something you spend 3 months on. I think Padme here was probably sculpted in a few weeks.

I've done some sculptures that take about 4 months to finish, and other headsculpts I've been able to finish in about 3-5 days. It's all relative to the project. :)

I hope you give sculpting a try. I find it hard, but the more you do it, the less difficult things become. Anything worth doing is challenging. :)

Hmmm True that -- Anything takes a while to accomplish. Still, If I could, I'd SO buy one off of you. :) I'm curious to know how much you charge for one. (I know it differs depending on what you want done) :)

And I guess with drawing, like you said about the project -- It depends on the face. ^.^

And I think I may give it a try. Thanks for inspiring me! :)

You bet, have fun!

Most of my work is sculpted for Sideshow Collectibles, and they offer the final pieces for sale. I do offer castings of some of my headsculpts I've done in my personal time (the "Firefly" characters, as well as some of the others. Most anything that isn't for Sideshow) if you want any of those. I can give you pricing info in private.

As far as commissions, I'm usually so booked with Sideshow work, that I don't have time to take on private commissions. I'd love to be able to, though. Maybe next year!
