Ghostbusters Dan Aykroyd as Stantz by TrevorGrove Ghostbusters Dan Aykroyd as Stantz by TrevorGrove
Hey folks.

This was the second portrait to be included with the Stantz statue from Hollywood Collectibles Group, which you can see finished here: www.hollywood-collectibles.com…

I really enjoyed sculpting this version with the shocked expression and goggles. Fun to get to do such a unique and iconic look.

Hand sculpted in wax

You're welcome!! I have not done sculpture for a long time, and seeing your art, I really want to do things, but I can not !!So, I dedicate myself to what I do best, ..... draw.
By the way, I have seen that you liked part of my work and I am proud of it (my ego is in the clouds, lol).
Regards my friend

You're doing wonderful work! I always wanted to be an illustrator, but didn't have what it takes....so I can relate! Your sculpting is wonderful. the tight refining of the toy/collectible industry is not everything...capturing character is the thing that's rare!

Best to you!

I started a portrait of this exact same scene, this exact same size, in this exact same wax about 8 years ago.  I havent finished it yet haha

Oh man, I gotta tell you, I struggled like CRAZY with Aykroyd....Getting the base likeness was so hard....once I had that, the expression ended up being fun, but it was not easy to get that far. I sympathize!

Yeah Im inspired to finish mine now just for comparison.  Even though its the same subject in every way it would still look different enough to be interesting.  I love that scene in Ghostbusters, its so iconic.

Absolutely! I'd love to see that. Everybody brings something different to a likeness, even though it would seem like it should be the same... That scene is so great. I was thrilled that the company wanted to represent it.

Dude, harsh is right! I look more like Bill Murray than this does! This guy should be blending a fish and saying, "Jane, you ignorant slut."

I love that the moment chosen to capture is where the cigarette sticks to his lip instead of just falling as he gapes.
